About Me
Dr. Maximilian Kinsky
I first encountered the medical profession and the field of orthopaedics through the eyes of a patient. When I was 8 years old, I was diagnosed with and underwent surgery for a bone disease. I suffered from pain and immobility, but I also feared the treatment and the uncertain future. Thanks to the professional and compassionate work of the surgeon and his incredible team, I was able to fully recover and achieve athletic excellence in school, eventually representing Austria in rugby.
This experience opened my eyes to the value of compassionate and caring communication, which is essential for an effective and holistic doctor-patient relationship. It inspired me to become an orthopaedic surgeon. Growing up in London as the son of an Austrian father and an American mother, I decided to study medicine in the United Kingdom and was accepted into the prestigious University of Edinburgh Medical School. I also completed internships at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, Texas, and the University of the West Indies in Jamaica.
After completing my degree, I worked for 6 months at the Heeres Spital in Vienna (as part of my mandatory military service) and 6 months at the renowned Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town in neurosurgery and traumatology. I am also a member of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) – one of the most traditional and respected surgical societies in the world. This distinction was awarded after I successfully passed a multi-stage, internationally recognized examination that requires extensive theoretical knowledge, clinical experience, and surgical excellence in the field of surgery.
After completing my internship and surgical training in London, I moved to the most beautiful city, Vienna, in 2016. Here, I completed my specialist training at the Unfallkrankenhaus Meidling (TZW) and the Orthopedic Hospital Speising. In addition to my practice, I also work as a senior physician at Sanatorium Hera.
I look forward to meeting you!
